The olive estate
From the grove to the press, on the farm
The olive estate was planted in 2008 and now has more than 5,000 trees. The olives are hand picked each winter and pressed here on the farm into a single-estate extra virgin olive oil, which guests can taste, take home or order online.

From river cruises to feeding the lambs
Laze in a hammock all day, or fill it: the river from the private jetty, bass in the dam, hikes to the caves, game, birds and the farm animals. Most of it starts at the front door.
- Launch a boat and water-ski at any tide: the slipway and jetty sit above the sandbanks
- Swim, or paddle one of the farm's two kayaks, from the private jetty
- Braai at the thatched riverside lapa by the Goukou (book it with your stay)
- Trail run the farm tracks and canyon paths

The Goukou River
Launch at any tide, from your own jetty
The farm's slipway and jetty sit above the Goukou's sandbanks, so you can launch and water-ski at any time of day, at any tide, and run the navigable river up into the gorge or down to Stilbaai. Swim off the jetty, paddle at first light or take a sunset cruise, then come home to a bass dam a short walk from the house.

“We had such a wonderful stay at StoneHouseLodge Olive Farm. Alison, our host, was so accommodating and friendly. The house was spacious, well equipped and very child friendly with plenty of games for the children, table tennis etc. The farm is a wonderful environment for a young family, the children loved watching the cows, peacocks and horses, collecting eggs from the chickens and being able to canoe on the river. There were great mountain biking routes for the active adults and a nice sunny patio overlooking beautiful views for those of us that aren't. The farm is also very close to great restaurants as well as wonderful beaches so there was so many activities to pack into our weekend.”

Where is Stonehouse Lodge?
On a 70 ha farm on the Goukou River, about 10 minutes from Stilbaai in the Western Cape and about 340 km (roughly 4 hours) from Cape Town. From Cape Town take the N2 past Riversdale (about 340 km). Turn right onto the R305 towards Stilbaai. After 19 km turn right onto the Spuithoek gravel road. After 1.3 km the Stonehouse Lodge gates are on your left.

How much does it cost to stay?
From R2,200 a night for Grysbok Cottage, R2,500 for White House Cottage and R3,600 for Stonehouse Lodge, midweek in low season. Holiday rates are higher, up to R6,500 a night for Stonehouse over Christmas and New Year. See the rates page for every season.
